FORT PLAIN — For the first time in 45 years, Fort Plain has a new athletic director.David Bertram was appointed to replace Charlie Karker on July 14 as he was named director of student engagement and athletics.Bertram joins the Fort Plain Central School District having served public education for many years in assignments as an elementary teacher, boys’ varsity basketball and tennis coach and as an administrator.“Mr. Bertram’s diverse experiences in education, from classroom to coaching, made him the ideal candidate for this new position. Fort Plain, a Scholar-Athlete ‘School of Excellence,’ hosts sports award ceremony

FORT PLAIN -- The Fort Plain Central School District recently hosted its annual athletic awards ceremony in the Junior-Senior High School auditorium. Fort Plain Central School qualified as a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete “School of Excellence” after having 16 out of 17 of its varsity teams having at least a 90 percent average. The teams were golf, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' cross country, volleyball, cheerleading, girls' bowling, boys' and girls' basketball, wrestling, swimming, baseball and boys' and girls' track & field.Several memorial and special awards were handed out at the ceremony.Sarah Florian, Robert Jordan and Clayton Welch were named the…
