Counties increase funding for FMCC for first time since 2018

TOWN OF JOHNSTOWN — Fulton-Montgomery Community College will receive an increase in county funding for the first time in five years.The $17.1 million budget for the upcoming academic year includes $1,645,821 in funding from Montgomery and Fulton counties — 20% of the pie. This accounts for a total $200,000 increase in regional support as the school wades through rough fiscal currents.Fulton County lawmakers approved the proposal on Monday, nearly a month after the Montgomery County Legislature. GLOVERSVILLE — Gloversville Transit Systems has proposed reducing trips out of Fulton Montgomery Community College during the academic year as a result of possible contractual changes.Under the new plan, there would be seven runs throughout the year and a few extra stops elsewhere. Motorcyclist killed in Montgomery County crash, sheriff says

TOWN OF MOHAWK — A Niskayuna man died after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on Saturday morning, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday. Officials identified the motorcyclist killed as Rodney P. Hayes, 48, of Niskayuna. Hayes was traveling north on Bendicks Corners Road and attempted to pass two vehicles headed in the same direction when the crash occurred around 10:50 a.m. The motorcycle collided with another vehicle that was preparing to turn left into the Fulton-Montgomery Community College campus. MOHAWK — In front of a row of hospital training mannequins at Fulton Montgomery Community College, State University of New York Chancellor John King asked nursing students, "what would you do if you were talking to a legislator?"
