TOWN OF JOHNSTOWN — A cheese-clogged pipe resulted in untreated water discharged by the Cayadutta Creek, according to a state alert notification issued Sunday. Discharged over the duration of 17 minutes was an estimated 1,300 gallons of dairy washwater from the Gloversville Johnstown Joint Wastewater Treatment facility. Some 95% of the substance soaked into the ground and 5%, the stormwater system. Officials shut down the pipeline within 25 minutes of the 9:13 a.m. incident. Containing milk and animal waste, dairy washwater in high quantities can endanger local ecosystems. This discharge was "non-hazardous" to the public and quickly dilutable, officials reported.…
