For the second time in a month, someone fired a gun at Veterans Park in Amsterdam. The most recent incident happened before 3:30 in the afternoon on Sunday. The pool was open. A three-day basketball tournament was underway. The previous incident happened during a free family movie night as “Minions: The Rise of Gru” played on the screen. AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam woman charged with shooting another woman at Veterans Park on Sunday is believed to have fired one round from her legally owned handgun before the weapon malfunctioned, according to city police. The victim, a 38-year-old woman also from Amsterdam, received non-life threatening injuries to her hand and leg. She was initially transported in a private vehicle to St. Mary’s Healthcare where she spoke with police. She was later transferred to Albany Medical Center. Josefina J.
