ALBANY - The Federal Bureau of Investigation has created a national database that will track incidents of people making false reports to unsuspecting residents’ homes, schools and other public places in order to evoke a police or SWAT team response.The incidents are typically called “swatting” and have been a growing trend in recent years. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the creation of the National Swatting Virtual Command Center last Friday.
