MAYFIELD - A Mayfield man drowned Friday on Sacandaga Lake after saving his child, who had been struggling to swim, state police said. Albert Adamkoski, 47, of Mayfield jumped into the water from a pontoon boat to rescue the child. After saving the child with assistance from another bystander, Adamkoski submerged into the water and did not resurface, state police said, citing their preliminary investigation. NORTHAMPTON - A Broadalbin man has been arrested, accused of illegally entering a Northampton home and then fighting with one of the residents, state police said. Austin R. Conklin, 24, of Broadalbin, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree burglary, a felony, along with misdemeanor assault, criminal mischief and aggravated harassment, police said. Police responded to the home just after 9 p.m. Friday for a report of an assault. CANAJOHARIE - Passersby, including two teachers from Schenectady, were credited with helping three people and 10 dogs after a crash one-car crash along the Thruway near Canajoharie, according to the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department. The crash injured all three people and several of the dogs, but none seriously, according to state police and an animal shelter official.
