Mechanicville schools superintendent lays out mascot rebranding plan

MECHANICVILLE --The Mechanicville City School District will seek student, official and community input as it looks for its next mascot after a state order required the removal of nicknames, logos and other imagery related to Indigenous cultures from public schools.“We don’t want to be exclusionary, we want to include as many stakeholders as possible,” said Superintendent Kevin Kolakowski during a presentation. Districts must retire the mascots and logos by the end of 2024-25 school year.
