Gillibrand proposes $1M for Upstate Ice Plex in Fulton County

MOHAWK VALLEY — For project leader Timothy Rizzo, the momentum behind the $35 million Upstate Ice Complex is far from frozen. U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand recently shortlisted $1 million in federal appropriations for the development of what would be the only ice arena of its kind within a nearly 70-mile liminal stretch of the Mohawk Valley. If awarded, it would be the first slab of government funding awarded for UIP. The five-member UIP has raised more than $12,000 since officially launching in February of 2022.
