GALWAY — For several years, after it closed in 2016, Jessica Bellone drove past Chuck’s Store on Sacandaga Road thinking the community could use another local spot. MONTGOMERY AND FULTON COUNTIES — The Pizza Hut restaurants in Amsterdam, Gloversville and Johnstown permanently closed their doors this week. All three local restaurants served their final slices on Wednesday, according to community members and local media reports. A handwritten note posted Thursday on the door of the Pizza Hut on Route 30 in Amsterdam put it bluntly: “Closed 4 Good.” Phone calls to each of the shops are connected to an automated message apologizing for the inconvenience of the restaurants being “closed at this time.” The restaurants were removed from the list of available carryout locations on the Pizza Hut website…

Amsterdam’s Riverlink Park to host Independence Day celebration, new restaurant on-site Drifter’s

AMSTERDAM - Amsterdam will celebrate Independence Day on Monday. The festival will take place at Riverlink Park and feature food, music, and of course — fireworks. The event officially kicks off at 5:30 p.m. but food will be available starting at 4 p.m. at Drifter’s, the new restaurant that took over the previous Riverlink Cafe spot earlier this month. Food trucks will also be on-site and will open at 5 p.m. At 5:30, the Amsterdam X-Squad Water Ski Team will put on a ski show to open the event.
