Gov. Kathy Hochul is calling for a statewide assessment of localities’ infrastructure to following severe flooding in areas of New York state this weekend, in order to ensure they are resilient enough to withstand the increasingly common extreme weather events. Heavy rains caused widespread flooding in the Mid-Hudson and Finger Lakes regions this weekend, ultimately leading to the drowning death of one person and road closures, as well as leaving more than 5,000 people without power.
