ALBANY – A new state audit found many state parks fail to be accessible to people with disabilities and little has been done in recent years to improve accessibility. In 2015, the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation developed a transition plan required by the American Disabilities Act [ADA] to identify physical obstacles for people with disabilities at state parks. Amid high inflation, New York State caps property tax growth at 2% for third consecutive year

ALBANY - While inflation costs continue to remain high, State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced property tax growth will once again be capped in 2024 at 2% for local governments and school districts for the third consecutive year.  New York’s property tax cap went into effect in 2012 and limits annual tax levy increases to either one plus the rate of inflation or 2%, whichever is less. DiNapoli’s office calculated the 2024 inflation factor at 6.26%, well above the 2% threshold. It allows local governments to increase property taxes by 1.02%.
