ALBANY – A new state audit found many state parks fail to be accessible to people with disabilities and little has been done in recent years to improve accessibility. In 2015, the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation developed a transition plan required by the American Disabilities Act [ADA] to identify physical obstacles for people with disabilities at state parks. The audit was conducted by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office from 2018 through 2022.
