TOWN OF AMSTERDAM — A Gloversville man was killed in a late-Tuesday afternoon crash with a tractor-trailer on Route 5 in the town of Amsterdam, state police said. Troopers identified the man killed as James E. Green, 54, of Gloversville. The incident occurred on Route 5 near Quist Road around 4:27 p.m. on Tuesday. The preliminary investigation found that Green was traveling westbound on Route 5 in a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt when he crossed the median and began traveling west in the eastbound lane, state police said.
