BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in his first MLS start and the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Chicago Fire 1-0 on Saturday.
Ibrahimovic headed home Ashley Cole’s deep diagonal cross in the first minute of first-half stoppage time. The Swedish forward played as a substitute in his first two appearances for the Galaxy (3-2-1). He has three goals in 127 minutes.
Galaxy goalkeeper David Bingham made four saves to preserve his second clean sheet of the season.
The Fire dropped to 1-3-1.
Rapids 2, Toronto FC 0
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Jack Price scored his first career MLS goal in the second minute, Shkelzen Gashi added a penalty kick late in the second half, and Colorado beat Toronto.
Price gave the Rapids (2-1-2) the lead about 80 seconds into the match, intercepting Drew Moor’s attempted clearance just outside the penalty arc and sending back a knuckling right-footed shot that beat goalkeeper Clint Irwin. Dominique Badji drew a penalty against Liam Fraser in the 77th minute and Gashi converted it a minute later to make it 2-0.
Toronto FC (1-3-0) was not at full strength, holding out many of its starters for the upcoming first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final. Toronto will host Chivas Guadalajara on Tuesday night.
Red Bulls 3, Impact 1
HARRISON, N.J. — Bradley Wright-Phillips had a goal and an assist to help New York beat Montreal.
Wright-Phillips opened the scoring for the Red Bulls (3-2-0) in the fifth minute, beating goalkeeper Evan Bush into the upper right corner. Romero “Kaku” Gamarra finished Wright-Phillips’ cross in the 57th minute to give New York a 2-1 lead. Michael Murillo capped the scoring in the 76th minute.
Montreal (2-4-0) tied it at 1 in the 33rd minute on Jeisson Vargas’ free kick.
FC Dallas 1, Revolution 0
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Jacori Hayes scored his first MLS goal and Jimmy Maurer had his second shutout in FC Dallas’ victory over New England.
Hayes first-timed a cross from Roland Lamah to give FC Dallas (2-0-3) the lead in the 76th minute. New England failed to clear a cross by Santiago Mosquera and Lamah rolled it to Hayes, charging through the center of the box, who tapped just inside the near post.
New England (3-2-1) had its four-game unbeaten streak snapped.
DC United 1, Crew 0
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Ulises Segura scored his first MLS goal and Steve Clark had a shutout in his first action of the season to help DC United beat Columbus at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Segura side-netted a half-volley from the top of the box in the first minute. Lucian Acosta back-heeled it to Paul Arriola, who tapped it to Segura.
Clark, who started all but two regular-season games for the Columbus from 2014-16, finished with five saves for United (1-3-2). Columbus dropped to 3-3-1.
