Exhibit of Kubrick’s photos set to open

NEW YORK (AP) — A new museum exhibit opening this week in New York City will focus on the early photography work of film director Stanley Kubrick.

The New York Times reports the Museum of the City of New York will showcase Kubrick’s photographs for Look magazine. Kubrick was a full-time New York-based photographer for the magazine from October 1946 through August 1950.

Look was generally considered a competitor to Life magazine and focused most of its attention on American pursuits and problems. It went out of business in 1971.

Kubrick died in 1999 and is best known for his work as a film director, including “2001: A Space Odyssey” and “Dr. Strangelove.”

“Stanley Kubrick: Through a Different Lens “opens on May 3 and runs through October 28.

Stage actor critical of use of phones

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The lead actor in a production of the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton has called out Salt Lake City theater-goers who pulled out their cellphones during performances in Utah.

Soon after the show ended, Joseph Morales called the behavior shockingly rude in a Tweet on Sunday, when he wrote: “SLC, you’re killing me. Put your phones away…”

Morales plays Alexander Hamilton in the musical.

Twitter users quickly pointed out that several of the Hamilton shows overlapped with Utah Jazz playoff games. That included Sunday, when the Jazz lost on the road to the Houston Rockets.

The basketball team came to Morales’s defense Monday. The Jazz said on Twitter that fans should wait to check the score until after they’re out of the theater.

West says sisters’ situation is a mess

NEW YORK (AP) — Kim Kardashian West is speaking out publicly about her sister Khloe’s relationship with NBA player Tristan Thompson.

Khloe gave birth to a baby girl named True earlier this month, days after a video surfaced of Thompson where it appeared he was cheating on her. On Monday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Kardashian West said: “I don’t even know how to describe it besides it’s so [expletive] up.”

She describes it as a “sad situation.” Kardashian West says Khloe’s main focus is on being a mom.

She’s taking some alone time with the baby to figure out what to do next.

Kardashian West also was careful not to say too much because she says True would one day be old enough to comprehend the situation.
