Gloversville Police car

A body was found Tuesday along Cayadutta Creek in Gloversville, police said Tuesday evening.

The body is that of an adult, but police indicated they could not immediately confirm further details.

Police got the call at around 1:15 p.m. for a deceased person discovered in the area of River Street, along the bank of the Cayadutta Creek, police said.

Authorities have since commenced a widespread investigation, police said.

“The investigation is in its infancy at this time,” police said in a release after 8 p.m.

Members of the Gloversville Police Department, along with New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, New York State Police Forensic Identification Unit, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, Fulton County Coroner’s Office and the Johnstown Police Department were involved, police said. Additional information from police was not expected until this afternoon.

The Gloversville City brush drop will be closed until further notice. Members of the public were also asked to avoid the area of River and Beaver streets.
